Carnival of the Godless
The Carnival of the Godless is a periodical event where atheist bloggers submit their (best) post of that period and every other Sunday the accumulated posts are presented in single post by the “Host” of the carnival.
Each carnival presentation is left to the individual host who decides if a post will go in the current Carnival and how the format will be. The Host is generally expected to read the submissions so as to get an idea about them and present them in the best way. Most commonly Carnival hosts provide a simply link with a short quote from the article or a description about it. But on occasion some hosts will do a more interesting presentation such as hide a riddle within, weave a story with all the submissions or have a theme.
Blogging
The CotG is a popular even in the Atheosphere and each time it comes around many blogs link to the current host urging readers to visit. As a result the host of the Carnival receveives a hefty amount of visits (1-2 thousand hits) and backlinks (10-20).
Submission to the Carnival can expect anything from 50 to 500 extra visits during the week after the CotG is hosted.
